The ATHENA Network is partnering with international and regional partners to convene a Women’s Networking Zone at the IWS. The Women’s Networking Zone (WNZ), similar to the WNZ initiated at the 2006 International AIDS Conference (Toronto) will be a forum for linking global and local actors; amplifying independent voices and for both developing and disseminating cutting-edge strategies to address women’s and girls’ rights in the context of HIV and AIDS.

The WNZ, will highlight:

• The leadership of HIV positive women

• Pioneering initiatives from around the world

• Community priorities for the global response to HIV and AIDS

• Neglected and contentious rights issues for women and girls.

The WNZ will host networking, skills exchange, and strategising activities.

The Women’s Networking Zone will be hosted on-site at the Kenyatta International Conference Center from July 4-7, parallel to the Summit.
