Local Human Rights Partners
"Men and women, boys and girls, young and old alike need to recognise and act on problems facing the world, beginning with the inequalities and injustices we experience or consciously or unconsciously perpetuate."
Dr Musimbi Kanyoro, General Secretary, World YWCA

To achieve the respect and protection of women and girls’ human rights requires social and cultural change, and as such calls for collaborative effort by all society.

These are some of our partners for human rights for all.

Interchurch Organisation for Development Co-operation (ICCO)
As a funding agency aimed at creating a world where poverty and injustice no longer exist, ICCO’s partnership with the World YWCA involves providing resources that enable YWCAs to work for the protection of human rights. This partnership has enable several concrete actions to address the issue of women’s human rights, such as the recent publication of a report on human trafficking by the YWCA of Belarus.

Realising Rights: The Ethical Globalisation Initiative (EGI)
Founded by Mary Robinson, former UN High Commissioner on Human Rights, EGI’s strong focus on respecting and protecting human rights throughout the globalisation process is matched by the World YWCA’s commitment to ensuring human rights for all people. Both organisations collaborate on advocacy efforts, as well as share resources and information.

Centre for Women’s Global Leadership
The Centre for Women’s Global Leadership and the World YWCA share a passion for ridding the world of gender based violence. The Centre’s 16 Days of Activism annual campaign to end violence against women is endorsed by the World YWCA, and promoted alongside our own yearly Week Without Violence.
